Lepas tumpang kebas suami

“Saya masih ingat, kira-kira jam 10 malam kira-kira dua tahun lalu, saya nampak seorang perempuan berjalan seorang diri di hadapan rumah saya sambil menangis.

“Selepas mendekatinya, Yati memberitahu dia dihalau isteri majikannya yang menuduh dia mahu mengurat suaminya. Kasihankan dia, saya ajak dia tinggal bersama.

Breivik puji Jepun, Korea

“Anda terpaksa menukar pengurus apabila anda melihat tiada jalan lain,” kata Cech.

Alexis Sanchez unveiled by Barcelona... a few pics

Chile forward Alexis Sanchez says he has come to Barcelona 'to learn from the best.'

Barcelona's first major transfer of the close season signed a five-year contract with the Spanish champions after passing a medical on Monday.

The 22-year-old says he wants to help Barca 'do what it has been doing: win titles.'

Sanchez recognizes it will be difficult to crack into the starting 11, saying, 'we all have to learn from Messi and Xavi.'

Last week Barcelona agreed a 37.5million euro deal with Udinese for the Chilean.

I'm going nowhere! Nani warns Young and Valencia he'll fight for future at United

Nani has claimed he will be inspired by the intense battle for first-team spots at Manchester United this season.

The arrival of Ashley Young from Aston Villa has provided immediate competition for the winger, who with Antonio Valencia sidelined for most of last term, was the only orthodox wide-man at Sir Alex Ferguson's disposal.

Danny Welbeck has operated on the flanks and is now available after a successful loan spell at Sunderland, whilst Mame Biram Diouf was picked there for the first half of the 3-1 win over Chicago Fire.

However, Nani, who scored the visitors' final goal at Soldier Field, is adamant he does not intend to take a backward step.

'The competition is good,' he said. 'It inspires you. If you have competition, you will train harder and push yourself in every game. At Manchester United, you have to be ready every time you go on the field.'

The 24-year-old contributed nine goals and 18 assists - the highest in the league - to United's record 19th championship triumph. Yet it still was not enough to earn him a starting spot for the Champions League final defeat to Barcelona in May.

It must have come as a bitter blow to a player who started the campaign so well, but tailed off just as Valencia was recovering from the broken ankle he sustained in September.

In the aftermath of that loss, and with Ferguson looking at how best to strengthen a team that was so badly outplayed at Wembley, there were plenty happy to write off Nani's Red Devils career completely.

But he returned for the current five-match tour of the United States, and appears in the right frame of mind to provide an even greater contribution this time around.

'Of course I can get better,' he said. 'That is what I am trying to do. It is not easy but it is what I look to achieve every year. If I can get more goals and more assists, that will be good for the team and help us in all the competitions we are going for.'

Nani believes improvement will be required too. For, whilst United proved good enough to finish top of the pile last season, with Manchester City trying to get stronger and Liverpool expected to challenge along with Arsenal and last year's runners-up Chelsea, Nani is anticipating an even fiercer battle for supremacy.

'In every season it is important to start well,' he said. 'But it is even more the case now because this season will be much harder than the last couple. All the teams are getting stronger and trying to be much better. We have to match that.'

Although Saturday's first-half showing was the least convincing of United's performances so far, Sir Alex Ferguson was reasonably satisfied. Goalkeeper David de Gea and former Blackburn defender Phil Jones made decent debuts.

Sir Alex Ferguson retracted an initial thought that De Gea was responsible for Chicago Fire's early opener and by the time he has bulked up, which United's medical staff insist will happen over time, he should be a positive influence.

The same is already true of Javier Hernandez, who is expected to join United on the next leg of their journey, to New York, where they will face an MLS All-Stars side containing David Beckham and Thierry Henry at Red Bull Arena on Wednesday.

'It was tough for him last season but over time, Javier will mature and get better,' said Ferguson. 'He is improving technically and now he has had a good season behind him in a tough division.

'We are setting targets for him. We thought he would get 20 last season and he did. He might do even better this time.'

United complete their tour in Washington next Saturday when they square up to Barcelona in a rematch of that one-sided European final. With Lionel Messi missing, it hardly represents an opportunity for revenge.

It will be a guide though, with Nani convinced United have what it takes to get revenge in Munich next year, when the European Cup will be up for grabs again.

'We have to be ready for the challenge,' he said. 'Barcelona play fantastic football and are the best team in the world at present. But we have the conditions to be better in the future.'

Huff and puff! United striker Berbatov hits back at style critics

Dimitar Berbatov is desperate to prolong his Manchester United career but insists he will not change his much-maligned style on the pitch to prove it.

Berbatov, 30, enters the final year of his contract knowing this could be his last pre-season tour with United.

Manager Sir Alex Ferguson admitted last week he would not have blamed the Bulgarian striker for demanding to leave after he was axed for the Champions League final against Barcelona in May.

But Berbatov, a £30.75million signing from Tottenham three years ago, is determined to fight for his future, saying: ‘Manchester United is the top. Where can you go from there? Only down. Maybe Barcelona. At the moment, I don’t see anything else.

‘I come from a small country. I have the good fortune to play for Manchester United. Why would you
want to go anywhere else?’

Berbatov remains something of a contradiction. He bagged five goals in one game against Blackburn and a hat-trick against Liverpool to finish joint top scorer in the Barclays Premier League last season, yet he has not scored in Europe since 2008.

Brooding one minute and happy the next, Berbatov’s determination to succeed at United does not always sit comfortably with the languid, lazy-looking approach that so infuriates his club’s supporters.
In his opinion, it is a mark of class.

‘There is a saying in Bulgaria that great quality doesn’t require much effort,’ he said. ‘You’re not going to see me puffing around the pitch.

‘I always play like this. That is what got me here. Last season was proof that, even if you have some downs in your career, if you believe in your style of play, you can do it as well. I’m a proud person. I don’t like to show my weaknesses and emotions in public. That is why people probably sometimes misjudge me.’

Berbatov was so ‘ashamed’ to appear in public at Wembley after Ferguson left him out of the squad that he sat and cried in the Wembley dressing room. But the Bulgarian prefers to look forward rather than back.

‘I still have time. Of course it will drive me on. The good thing about football is that there is always next year. I will have new goals. I was pretty happy we did the historic thing about the 19th title. I was the top goalscorer. For me, the personal thing was great.’

Berbatov's status as a role model sits comfortably on his shoulders, even if he recoils from the thought he could be regarded as an icon, reserving that status for his own hero, Hristo Stoichkov.

'When I was young, I was looking to people like Stoichkov,' he said. 'I told myself one day I would like to be as successful as him. Dreams do come true sometimes.'

Although there was one cataclysmic low, Berbatov experienced some dream days last year too.

The first United player to score a hat-trick against Liverpool in 64 years, a tally that included a magnificent overhead kick, the first non-Englishman to score five in a Premier League game, the Golden Boot for his 20-goal haul.

'I didn't know scoring three goals against Liverpool would mean so much to so many people,' he reflected. Obviously three goals - and the second one was a bit special - it will stay in my memory for ever - and after that I scored five!

'What makes me really proud is that there have been so many foreigners playing in English football, I am the only one with five goals.

'But it is something I have to push to the back of my mind. Last season I had highs in my career. But what if we didn't win the title? Then these things wouldn't matter so much.'

Talking to Berbatov, it is clear that he does care, both about his team and his performance. It seems he wants to be liked, not in an arrogant way, but as an individual who tried to do things a little differently.

'As a good player, doing things the fans enjoyed,' he replied, when asked how he would like to be remembered. I always tend to think my goals are beautiful goals. That is what I want to score; beautiful goals, and create beautiful chances.'

How long will that attitude prevail at Old Trafford, where the challengers, all younger, are queuing up to oust him?

Berbatov does not answer. What he is prepared to concede is that once leaving United, the only way is down. 'Smaller clubs might be able to match Manchester United with the way they play, with their organisation, everything. But Manchester United are at the top,' he said.

'Where can you go from there? Maybe Barcelona. At the moment, I don't see anything else. If you go somewhere else it is a big step down.

'I come from a small country. I have the good fortune to play for Manchester United. For the time I am here I try to do my best and win everything there is to win. There is no other way I can play.'

United will sign one more player this summer, insists Gill

Manchester United expect to sign one more player before the end of the transfer window.

United are refusing to give up hope of bringing in Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder or Arsenal’s
Samir Nasri, and the club were on Tuesday linked with Palermo midfielder Javier Pastore — a Chelsea target — and Roma striker Mirko Vucinic

Top target: Manchester United are still hoping to sign £35m-rated midfielder Wesley Sneijder from Inter Milan

United fear Nasri is bound for neighbours Manchester City, and although chief executive David Gill held talks with Inter officials and Sneijder's representatives earlier this month, negotiations stalled over the Italian club's £35million valuation as well as the player's personal terms.

Gill said: 'We are looking at one more player to bring in. We've been looking at a particular position and two or three players in that position.'

'When you're bigger than the biggest person on The Biggest Loser, it's horrible': How mother-of-two lost 200lb in a year

Tipping the scales at 456lb Staci Bridwell was ashamed to acknowledge that she weighed more than the largest contestant on the Biggest Loser.

But thanks to the help of celebrity coach Chris Powell, the 30-year-old, from Haslet, Texas, has lost over 200lb in the space of a single year.

The mother-of-two, who appeared on the latest episode of Extreme Makeover, told how she gained weight in her early teens, and has not been able to shift it since.

Transformation: Staci Bridwell, 30, from Haslet, Texas, once weighed 456lb (left), but lost 201lb in a year after appearing on Extreme Makeover (right)

She said: 'As a teenager I gained probably 200 pounds between the time I was 13 to 15. I was shopping at Lane Bryant by the time I was 13 years old.'

She revealed that she had tried every diet imaginable, but her job as a mobile radiology technologist meant that she spent up to ten hours a day in the car, and fast food had become a part of her lifestyle.

'Weight Watchers, Jennie Craig, The Soup Diet … anything,' she said. 'I’ve done them all, and nothing ever worked.'

In addition to a demanding job, Mrs Bridwell was required to care for her two young daughters, as well as support her husband, Rodney, who suffered a stroke three weeks after they met.

Out of control: The mother-of-two's weight soared in her teens, and by 13 she was shopping at Lane Bryant

Pressure: Mrs Bridwell experienced added stress after her husband suffered a stroke, numbing the left side of his body. As a consequence, she became the family's sole breadwinner

But, as the show reveals, she found the impetus to transform her diet and lifestyle, exercising for up to four hours a day, despite her demanding work and home life.

'I didn’t know what to cook. I didn’t know what to buy at the store. I had to change all of that,' she explained.

'I lost the weight over a year, and now it’s just the way I live. I don’t even have to think about it anymore. It’s already second nature. It’s a new lifestyle.

'The hardest part is getting started and making sure you stay with it.'

Success: Mrs Bridwell could fit both herself and her daughter into the legs of her old jeans after six months

Mrs Bridwell enjoyed a successful first six months, dropping to 290lb at the mid-way weigh-in, but her weight reached a plateau during the latter half of Powell's plan.

She told how she had lost her focus while juggling her hectic schedule, and had slipped back into bad habits, eating fast food and not making time to exercise.

But after a disappointing nine-month weigh-in, Mrs Bridwell's motivation was revived, and a session with Mr Powell helped push her to her goal weight of 255lb.

She said of the trainer: 'He’s a very special guy. He is super-inspiring, and there’s just something about him being around that makes you feel like you can [lose the weight]. I said I’d give it my best shot - and I did - and it worked.'

Helping hand: With the support of celebrity coach Chris Powell, the 30-year-old reached her goal weight

Mr Powell was equally full of praise, crediting her dedication and motivation to her weight-loss goal.

He said: 'She was the largest woman I'd ever worked with and the transformation is incredible.'

As another positive consequence of her new healthy lifestyle, the whole Bridwell family has lost weight - particularly Mr Bridwell, who has lost 100lb since his wife changed their diet.

'My husband lost 100 pounds!' she said. 'It’s so aggravating, he never even works out. All he did was eat the [healthier] food. I work out for hours!'

Dia juga didakwa mempunyai hubungan dengan sebuah lagi pertubuhan pelampau Kristian, Stop the Islamification of Europe, menurut akhbar Sunday Telegraph. - Agensi

Gaya hidup punca Winehouse mati

2011/07/25
Penyanyi hadapi ketagihan dadah, alkohol

– AFP

Athlete who broke his back in skiing accident scales 19,000ft Mt Kilimanjaro using only the power of his arms

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is an impressive feat for anyone. But one man has reached the 19,340ft summit - without the use of his legs.

Chris Waddell, 43, broke his back in a freak skiing accident while at college in Vermont in 1988.

The promising athlete was left paralysed from the waist down but two decades later decided to propel himself up the tallest free standing mountain in the world using his arms.

t was a typically ambitious goal for the adventurer who was back on the slopes using a mono-ski within a year of his devastating accident.

During a hugely successful career as a Paralympian Chris became the most decorated male skier winning 12 medals at four games.

Unwilling to rest on his laurel's, Mr Waddell decided to become the first paraplegic to scale the highest mountain in Africa.

He set off up the rocky slopes on September 24 in 2009 using a specially adapted cycle that was steered by his chest and powered by his arms.

Each crank of the pedals propelled him forward a few centimetres on the four-inch wide wheels.

The adventurer was accompanied by seven teammates and 60 porters, who provided support and lay down boards to bridge gaps.

During the 13,000ft climb through five climate zones, the team came across waterbars at regular intervals, designed to preserve the trail in rainy season.

'While most stepped over the waterbars I dropped into each and climbed back out,' Mr Waddell said.

'Though the deepest was only three feet, my momentum ground to a crawl. '

While they reached camp on the first day in six and a half hours, the trek on the second day took ten and a half hours.

Despite their difficulties, the group completed the 30-mile trek from rainforest to glacier in an impressive six and a half days - just a couple of days longer than most able-bodied hikers.

By the end of his trek Chris estimated it took him 528,000 revolutions to reach the top.

This year, a documentary about his inspiring journey has won awards at film festivals in Geneva and Memphis.

The trek was in aid of Waddell's foundation One Revolution, whose goal is to change people's impressions and expectations of disabled people.

He certainly inspired student Brandon Gell after speaking at Horace Greeley High School in New York.

Mr Gell said: 'I began thinking of the obstacles in my life, and they quickly became insignificant. Chris had a determination and a way of motivating that inspired me to push my own boundaries.'

He decided to climb Mount Kilimanjaro with his family and raised over $20,000 for the foundation after making the trip last month.

Mr Waddell, from Park City in Utah, said: 'One Revolution stands for how something small can lead to something big - how one turn of the cranks can lead to the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro, or how reach one child can change the nature of our perceptions.'

Mr Waddell's Foundation is now designing and producing an All-Terrain Handcycle, much like the vehicle he used during his climb of Kilimanjaro. They hope to manufacture them in Tanzania.

Tragic Amy Winehouse 'heartbroken' over split from Reg Traviss as she dies aged 27

Troubled singer had a long battle with drink and drugs
Devastated after split from director Traviss last month
Father Mitch flies home from New York 'to be with Amy'
Autopsy could take place 'within next 24 hours'

Troubled singer Amy Winehouse died yesterday of a suspected drug overdose at her London home.

The 27-year-old star, who had fought a long and well-publicised battle with drink and drug addiction, was pronounced dead after police were called to her £2.5 million three-storey home in North London.

Her untimely death follows a long list of musicians who have all died at the age of 27, known as the 27 Club. They include rock legends Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain and Rolling Stone Brian Jones.

Amy was said to be devastated and ‘inconsolable’ after being dumped by her on-off boyfriend Reg Traviss, 34, just before she checked herself into The Priory rehabilitation clinic last month.

Traviss, who had previously turned down a marriage proposal from the star, was desperate to help Amy turn her life around, say friends, but when he realised she could not beat her demons he ended the relationship.

Last night, as Winehouse's body was taken to a local mortuary, her heartbroken mother Janis admitted she believed her daughter's death had been 'only a matter of time' when they met just 24 hours before she died.

'She seemed out of it. But her passing so suddenly still hasn't hit me,' she said.

Instead, she said, she preferred clinging for comfort to Amy's own parting words at the end of an enjoyable day they had spent together on Friday.

As mother and daughter kissed on the doorstep Amy told her, 'I love you, Mum'.
'They are the words I will always treasure and always remember Amy by', she said.

Last night Amy’s father Mitch - who had predicted she would die if she failed to quit drink and drugs - said he was devastated but has vowed ‘not to crack up for Amy’s sake’.

The cabbie-turned-singer was on a jazz tour in New York when he heard the news. He said: ‘I’m coming home. I have to be with Amy. I can’t crack up for her sake. My family need me.’

Amy had recently completed her third album but the release date was delayed by Island Records when she went into rehab.

She bought her five-bedroom Camden home in 2009 but only moved in this May after spending £200,000 installing a recording studio and gym.

As the investigation to establish the cause of her death began, three people were seen outside the house, which is in one of London’s most expensive streets. They were Mr Traviss, her bodyguard – known only as Neville – and former Big Brother contestant Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace, 32, a long time friend of the singer, who looked distraught.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: ‘Inquiries continue into the circumstances of the death, which at this stage is being treated as unexplained. We do have people we’re speaking to but nobody has been arrested.’

A source said: ‘A number of people were helping police with their inquiries but we are still trying to establish who was with her when she died. It’s fair to say these people are central to police enquiries in piecing together what happened before she died.’

Another police source said that the death was being treated as ‘drink and drugs-related’. A post-mortem is expected to be carried out tomorrow.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said in a press conference yesterday evening that no cause of death had yet been confirmed.

Broken: Winehouse's close friend Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace was seen struggling to control her emotions as she learned of the singer's passing

'The death of any person is a sad time of friends and family especially for someone known nationally and internationally like Amy Winehouse. My sympathy extends not only to her family but also to her millions of fans across the world.'

A statement from Winehouse's U.S. record label read: 'We are deeply saddened at the sudden loss of such a gifted musician, artist and performer.

'Our prayers go out to Amy's family, friends and fans at this difficult time.'

And a spokesman for the late singer said: 'Everyone involved with Amy is shocked and devastated. Our thoughts are with her family and friends. The family will issue a statement when ready.'

Tragic: Winehouse's body is seen being removed from her home

A section of the road where the singer lived remained cordoned off last night. Journalists, local residents and fans gathered at the police tapes, while forensic officers were seen going in and out of the building.

One neighbour, who did not want to be named, said she saw the grief-stricken Traviss, on the ground outside the house.

Amy became a household name in 2006 after the multi-million sales of her five-time Grammy Award-winning album Back To Black, which chronicled her troubled love affair with her former husband Blake Fielder-Civil.

The pair married in Miami in May 2007 but divorced two years later after they both battled drink and drug addictions.

It is also alleged former music video producer Fielder-Civil was the one who introduced the Back to Black star to heroin and crack cocaine.

Amy's father Mitch previously spoke out about how his daughter stayed away from drugs prior to meeting her ex-husband.

In an interview last year he said: 'He's not entirely responsible, she's got to take a portion of the responsibility, but it's clear, it really kicked off when they got together.'

Despite her personal problems the star amassed a £10 million fortune and her album, with hits including Rehab, also helped her find success in America. But she struggled to deal with her success.

On Thursday, she made a surprise return to performing at the Roundhouse in Camden, North London, supporting her goddaughter Dionne Bromfield in an iTunes Festival concert. But fan Simon Grabiner, 19, said she came on stage and ‘stumbled around’ as if she was drunk or under the influence of drugs.

Mr Grabiner, from Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, said: ‘Everyone cheered as they saw her come on, and everyone thought she was going to perform. But she just walked around the stage as if she was drunk or something.

‘Her legs seemed to turn to jelly. She gave Dionne a hug, and told everyone to buy her album. Then she just walked off.’

It followed a shambolic performance in Belgrade, Serbia, last month where Amy was booed off stage which led to the cancellation of her European tour.

Yesterday morning a message on her official website said she would be withdrawing from all forthcoming performances.

It read: ‘Amy Winehouse is withdrawing from all scheduled performances. Everyone involved wishes to do everything they can to help her return to her best and she will be given as long as it takes for this to happen.’

Last night Sir Elton John called her ‘a seminal artist’, adding: ‘She was one of the greatest artists this country has ever produced.’

Mail on Sunday columnist and CNN presenter Piers Morgan wrote on Twitter: ‘Such desperately sad news. Supreme natural talent, terrible self-destructive addictive personality.’

Lily Allen tweeted: ‘It’s just beyond sad, there’s nothing else to say. She was such a lost soul, may she rest in peace.’

Singer and actress Kelly Osbourne wrote: ‘I can’t even breath right now I’m crying so hard I just lost one of my best friends. I love you for ever Amy and will never forget the real you!’

TV presenter Peaches Geldof, the television presenter simply wrote ‘RIP Amy Winehouse’. Emma Bunton said: ‘Such sad news about Amy Winehouse. My thoughts are with her family.’

Sarah Brown, the wife of the former Prime Minister Gordon Brown wrote: ‘Sad sad news of Amy Winehouse. Great talent, extraordinary voice and tragic death. Condolences to her family.’

Sally Bercow, the wife of the Speaker of the House of Commons wrote: ‘Proper upset by Amy Winehouse death. Such a talent lost.’

Radio DJ Fearne Cotton said: ‘Amy was a special girl. The saddest news.’

And referring to the age at which Amy had died, singer Billy Bragg ent a tweet saying: 'It's not the age that Hendrix, Jones, Joplin, Cobain and Amy have in common - it's drug abuse, sadly #27club.'

Singer and presenter Myleene Klass wrote: ‘OMG. Amy Winehouse. Exceptional talent and really nice lady. RIP.’

Sara Cox tweeted: ‘Oh no. Was hoping it wasn’t true. RIP Amy. Just such a massive waste. Our thoughts are with her family.’
AMY AND BLAKE: A TROUBLED ROMANCE

Amy married Blake Fielder-Civil in Miami, Florida in 2007 but they were divorced two years later in September 2009.

From the beginning there relationship was fraught with difficulty as they struggled with addictions to crack cocaine and heroin. This led to numerous break-ups and ensuing make-ups.

Three months after they divorced speculation began to mount that they would one more marry. This was supported by the announcement on Facebook where they had both changed their relationship status to married.

But they never actually went ahead with it.
Fielder-Civil’s troubles continued and in June of this year was sentenced to 32 months in prison for burglary and possession of an imitation firearm.

Police caught the 29-year-old in a car in February with an altered number plate full of recently stolen possessions.

Winehouse had been working on her long-awaited new album, the follow-up to her 2006 breakthrough multi-million selling Back To Black, for the past three years.

The singer was born Amy Jade Winehouse on 14th September 1983 in Southgate, London.

Winehouse has had a troubled life which has included various stints in rehab for drug and alcohol addiction.

The singer is thought to have been to rehab four times.

In an interview in 2008, her mother Janis said she would be unsurprised if her daughter died before her time.

She said: 'I've known for a long time that my daughter has problems.

'But seeing it on screen rammed it home. I realise my daughter could be dead within the year. We're watching her kill herself, slowly.

'I've already come to terms with her dead. I've steeled myself to ask her what ground she wants to be buried in, which cemetery.

'Because the drugs will get her if she stays on this road.

'I look at Heath Ledger and Britney. She's on their path. It's like watching a car crash - this person throwing all these gifts away.'

In addition, there was a website set up called When Will Amy Winehouse Die?, with visitors asked to guess the date of death with the chance of winning an iPod Touch.

In an interview last October with Harper's Bazaar magazine, Amy was asked if she was happy.

She replied: 'I don't know what you mean. I've got a very nice boyfriend. He's very good to me.'

And, asked if she had any unfulfilled ambitions, Winehouse replied: 'Nope! If I died tomorrow, I would be a happy girl.'

It had seemed director Traviss had helped Winehouse turn her life around. And father Mitch also gave the new man his seal of approval.

In an interview with STV's The Hour programme, he said: 'I'm happy she's got a new boyfriend. I'm happy that she's moving on with her life.'

He said Traviss was a 'very nice, normal bloke'. The pair split in January this year but quickly rekindled their relationship.

In March, Traviss said: 'We've been together nearly a year now and we're very happy. Amy's doing well, she's fine. She's healthy and happy.'

Winehouse had a hugely successful musical career with the release of her debut album Frank in 2003, and the record considered her breakthrough album - Back To Black in 2006.

The singer featured on the Sunday Times Rich List earlier this year with an estimated net worth of around £6million.

During her career, Winehouse won awards including five Grammy Awards, a Q Music Award for Best Album for Back To Black and a World Music Award in 2008 for World's Best Selling Pop/Rock Female Artist.

Why fat people must 'love their bodies' to get thin

People who want to shed the pounds are far more likely to be successful if they work on improving their body image at the same time, say scientists.

'Body image' refers to how confident a person feels in their own skin. This is formed by a mixture of life experience, personality and social pressures.

Researchers found that overweight or obese women who were given general health advice lost two per cent of their starting weight in a year.

However, those who also had regular group sessions discussing personal barriers lost more than three times that amount shaving off an impressive seven per cent of their starting weight over the same period.

For a 14stone woman this was the difference between losing 4lbs and losing 13lbs in 12 months.

The scientists from the Technical University of Lisbon and Bangor University reported their findings in the International Journal of Behavioural Nutrition and Physical Activity.

Research leader Dr Pedro Teixeira from the Technical University of Lisbon, said: 'Body image problems are very common amongst overweight and obese people, often leading to comfort eating and more rigid eating patterns, and are obstacles to losing weight.

'Our results showed a strong correlation between improvements in body image, especially in reducing anxiety about other peoples' opinions, and positive changes in eating behavior.

'From this we believe that learning to relate to your body in healthier ways is an important aspect of maintaining weight loss and should be addressed in every weight control program.'

Obesity, heavy drinking and 'couch potato' lifestyle fuels 20% rise in cancer among the middle aged

Almost a quarter of men and women in England and over a third of adults in America are obese.

Obesity increases the risk of diabetes and heart disease and can significantly shorten a person's life expectancy.

The researchers found group work boosted the effectiveness of weight loss programmes based on good nutrition and exercise.

This consisted of 30 weekly group sessions where issues such as exercise, emotional eating and improving body image were discussed as well as how to overcome personal barriers to weight loss and diet lapses.

The women who took this course were far better as self-regulating their eating as a result.

Over to you, Carlos: Manchester City accept £40m deal for wantaway Tevez

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has confirmed that an agreement has been reached with Corinthians for the sale of Carlos Tevez.

City turned down a £40million bid from the Brazilian club last week, and were believed to be holding out for £50m for a player who finished as joint top scorer in the Barclays Premier League last season with 20 goals.

The club will now turn their attention to securing the signature of Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero, with the player's representatives set to meet up with City chiefs.

Speaking on the club's pre-season tour of North America, Mancini said: 'We have an agreement with Corinthians but Carlos now is still a City player.'

Eastlands exit: City have agreed a fee with Corinthians

All smiles: Mancini made the announcement during a press conference in the US

The Sao Paulo club moved for the Argentina striker after being alerted by Tevez's admission earlier this month that he wished to leave City for the sake of his family, with his two children based in his homeland.

Corinthians president Andres Sanchez last week claimed Juventus had entered the race to sign Tevez but insisted his own club would not increase their offer for the wantaway South American.

Tevez's advisor, Kia Joorabchian, revealed a few days ago that a deal with Corinthians was "close", with the player himself keen on a return to the club he previously represented between January 2005 and August 2006.

Crashing out: Tevez has been on duty with Argentina at the Copa America

The 27-year-old, who joined City from Manchester United in summer 2009 and has also previously played for West Ham, is under contract at City until June 2014.

Asked whether Tevez would now be discussing personal terms, Mancini replied: 'I don't know this. I repeat, at the moment, Carlos is still a City player.'

He added: 'I want to wait. At the moment we are here, we are working with the other guys. We should think about this.'

Defender Joleon Lescott admitted he would be disappointed to see his team-mate depart but understood his wishes.

The England international said: 'We'll be disappointed if Carlos leaves but it was down to the club and Carlos what was best for each other and they have come to an agreement so I wish both parties all the best.

'Carlos is his own man. Last season he played to 110 per cent every game so none of us will be holding any grudges towards him and we'll wish him all the best if he does leave.'

Meanwhile the player City want to replace Tevez, Sergio Aguero, looks likely to move away from the Vicente Calderon to Eastlands in the coming weeks and has been waiting for the Copa America to end before deciding on his next move.

'He wanted the Copa America to end to sit down and talk. During this week everything will be settled," Aguero's agent, Hernan Reguera, told Ole.

'Aguero has made a lot of important things for Atletico. He renewed his contract when he was one year away from becoming a free agent, he has played over 200 matches, he spent two years without vacations,' Reguera said.

'He is thankful to the fans and to the club's board. We have been talking about this for two months. I talk to the club's chiefs on a daily basis, and if it was hard for them to accept at the beginning, they have assumed it and there are no problems.

'He wants his career to grow, this has nothing to do with the money.'

Tiger Woods tetap kaya

Beliau direkodkan memiliki pendapatan berjumlah AS$75 juta (RM226 juta) dalam tempoh 12 bulan lalu. Tempat kedua diduduki bintang NBA, Kobe Bryant dengan pendapatan berjumlah AS$53 juta (RM159 juta).

Tiga gol jadi azimat
